Exams

Posted by MollyCoddle |

This is a "re-tweet" from Joo Ken :)

Clinicals are a whole new ball game now...no more direct questions like "Examine the 7th Cranial Nerve please". It's going to be a symptoms-based complaint and one will have to direct the examination (Mercy be upon your soul if you get a systemic disease like SLE or chronic renal failure) based on the history.

Good luck fellow Res I-s.

is that all right, yeah.

Our 2nd semester of 3rd year, aka Residency I, ended today. All we have left now is exams in 10 days. I've stopped being sad everytime an academic year is over, I'm so close to the end now I just want to graduate! Hehe. Here's hoping exams go well.

22/6- [am] Surgery Written
           [pm] Medicine Written
24-25/6- Clinical (long case)

Hmm..aside from having 2 written papers in one day, I'm not looking forward to the Long Case. 40 minutes to clerk a patient, including a full examination. Then 20 minutes of presenting your findings and answering various questions as well as doing ANOTHER physical examination in front of the examiner. So nervous. Meep.

So anyway today was our final day of Family Med rotation. Hehhe it ended with a loooong and not-so-interesting debriefing session and then a video session for assesment. The same patient as the first week but this time he has a headache. Oh joy! 6 minutes to ask him about the headache as well as addressing his concerns. I think I'm gonna make a bad GP. We also had to submit a reflective journal where we're expected to talk about our feelings for roughly 2000 words. But seriously though I had so much fun in this rotation.

Our rotation groups for 4th year are out and I'm happy to announce that our group won't be changing! YAY! And we've got 2 wonderful new additions. Hehe so now I'm happy. I don't have to worry about getting used to new ppl. Oo lala. Man I love my group ;)

Good luck to all PMC-ians as well as my RCSI friends who will also be having their exams next week. XOXO

No Boundaries

Hi, my name is Farah and I'm a Kris-a-holic. Kris Fever in full swing!

I'm skipping a whole day of classes tmrw just to spend one more day in KL..and yet I'm still so sad to leave. Ridiculous.

My rural life (as AYJK puts it) in Janda Baik has kicked up a notch. I caught 3 fishes today! By myself! (eh hello I have a picture to prove it okay). I'm ready to be left alone in the wilderness now. Yay me!

I can't get enough of Kris Allen. I'm constantly playing his songs all day long, youtubing him, drooling over all his performances. This takes me back to my Clay Aiken days. Sighh.

Back to Penang tmrw. Bah.

Media Blitz

So Kris Allen is the new Idol =). I'm proud to say that I've been a Kris fan from the beginning. I lovelovelooooved Adam just as much but somehow I think Kris is more the Idol type. Yay anyway! My parents said that Adam Lambert is the next Freddie Mercury. Blasphemous! No one can even come close to Freddie haha but probably in a decade or so?

I had my video session this morning. We were supposed to take a history from a simulated patient in 6 minutes, putting emphasis on the patient's concerns etc. ARGH! I totally went for the extreme and purely asked about the patient's worries and fears and forgot about the MEDICAL aspect of the history. Bah!

Finally, Charlie is back! Safe and sound. I've never missed him more!

Obsolete?..I think not

Posted by MollyCoddle |

No no I still blog, Twitter still hasn't managed to take over my life completely. And I just found out how to blog from my Blackberry so that's a PLUS. Hehe

Surgery is OVER. Finito. At least for now. I loved how it ended, in SJH (my favourite place) and with the words "Juniors..GET LOST!" from the legendary Hewhomustnotbenamed. Ahh that was a good day. Hehe so tmrw I start Family Medicine. People have been saying how relaxing it is compared to the other 2 rotations so here's hoping they are right! One thing I'm not looking forward to is the damned video session. I didn't sign up for acting classes! Bah!

What else? Let's see now..Diana's car has a new spoiler and plenty of cutesy accessories to boot. Mior's car..hmm let's just say thank God it's still orange or else it won't be recognizable.* And what do I get???? A BROKEN AIRCOND THING! If I'm not mistaken the workshop guy called it a magnetic coil or something. Double bah! So now I have to drag poor Charlie to the Land Rover place all the way in freaking BUTTERWORTH! Thank God for good friends <3.>

Will be back when something more exciting happens!

To Diana, Nath and Ipin: GOOD LUCK FOR TMRW! This is it guys! All the best. We are par-tay-ing at 945pm sharp! Hugsies.

* My friends have a thing for cars. I swear we know more car workshops than we do places to eat.

Mum's the Word.

My mom sent this to me this morning. Haha must be some kind of a hint. Whatever it is..this is just TOO cute! The ones in red are my favourites.

WHY GOD MADE MUMS

Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

 Why did God make mothers?
 1. She's the only one who knows where the sticky tape is.
 2. Mostly to clean the house.
 3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

 How did God make mothers?
 1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
 2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
 3. God made my Mum just the same like he made me. He just used bigger
 parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?
 1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
 2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other Mum?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's Mums like me.

What kind of little girl was your Mum?
 1. My Mum has always been my Mum and none of that other stuff.
 2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
 3. They say she used to be nice.

What did Mum need to know about Dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your Mum marry your Dad?

1. My Dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mum eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My Grandma says that Mum didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
 1. Mum doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because Dad's such an idiot.
 2. Mum. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
 3. I guess Mum is, but only because she has a lot more to do than Dad.

What's the difference between Mums & Dads?
 1. Mums work at work and work at home and Dads just go to work at work.
 2. Mums know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
 3. Dads are taller & stronger, but Mums have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep        over at your friend's.
 4. Mums have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your Mum do in her spare time?
 1. Mothers don't have spare time.
 2. To hear her talk, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your Mum perfect?
 1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
 2. You know, her hair. I'd die it, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your Mum, what would it be?
 1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
 2. I'd make my Mum smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
 3. I would like her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.
