...that's what I feel after just 1 day of Public Health. Who knew statistics would come back and bite me where it hurts the most. ARGH!


Thank God for the visiting lecturer from AIMST university for making the lectures at least funny. I just hope I can survive the next 2 weeks of pure lectures+tutorials. I think after Psychiatry I've developed adult-onset ADHD. I need Ritalin.

...and I still can't believe I have another 7++ weeks of this. Crap.

O Happy Days

God I can't believe you're already 22. STOP GROWING UP man! When I read about the Moscow bombings my heart stopped for awhile and lucky at the same time I saw your status if not I would've gone berserk trying to call you or your mom. Hehe. So with our EOB exams over and done with, my Psychiatry rotation is officially over. All we have left is the visit to HBUK this Thursday. Back when I was a kid (omg i sound so old!) the best way to insult a person was to say that he/she belonged in Tanjung Rambutan. Haha well now I'm finally gonna get to see how it looks like so I hope I'm not disappointed. Sucks that we have to drive there ourselves tho. 2 hour drive and classes there start at 830am! So that means we'll need to leave by around 6 or prob earlier. Oh well.

I'm not going to talk about the exams but let's just say I didn't do as well as I intended to. I officially hate BIPOLAR MOOD DISORDER and LITHIUM and everything in between. So apparently Edna will be calling up those who failed by this evening so that we can come in to repeat the long case tmrw. So I've been glued to my phone since this morning. Hoping for the best!

Next up: PUBLIC HEALTH. *yawn* 2 more months till we get into the actual FUN stuff.

End of Block Exams

It's finally here :( Written and Long Case tmrw followed by OSCE on Tuesday. Good luck to all my groupmates. Let's do this for Dr U! I'm gonna miss her so much man.


I can't believe Psych is ending. I also can't believe that I'm actually going to miss it. Which reminds me of something Dr. S said,

*During Grand Rounds where we saw a bipolar patient who says he's married to Megan Fox, a patient who keeps screaming for another female doctor's phone number, someone who thinks he's an american cop (complete with accent) and many many other amusing antics*

Dr. S: You see how exciting Psychiatry is? Patients in the medical or surgical ward are all in pain, all upset etc. Now look at the psychiatry ward, everyone's so happy so entertaining and basically just enjoying life.

.....

Which is kinda true when you think about it. Haha so I guess the joke's on us then?

Can't Get Started

OMGGG I'm feeling so LAZY today. Tonnes of work to do including case writeups but I can't seem to get moving. Argh it's just one of those days.....


Currently missing two of the most important people in my life. All at opposite ends of the world. Faster come back!



What I wouldn't do to be able to be in KL right now.....

Haha and I want to share this video..f-ing hilarious. As you can probably tell I'm OBSESSED with Mario at the moment. Mostly cos I suck at the New Super Mario Bros game (still stuck at world 2 in case you were wondering). Hehe I LOVE MARIO! I love how he goes all "so nice-a" at the end of every level. Wheeeee....



Oh and a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TIKA!!! I LOVE YOU! HOPE YOU HAD A GOOD ONE HEHEHEHE. Lucky to have so many ppl who love you! MUAH!

Learn To Fly

Week 4 of Psychiatry is over. OMG I can't believe it's been a month. I also can't believe that in a month's time, we'll be facing end of block exams! ARGH! We just had a "midterm" test today so I hope that goes well.

What have I learnt in 4 weeks?

  • The differences between an apple and an orange.
  • How to zone out during patients' ramblings/loong speeches while still looking "interested" and nodding along. Essential skill if you want to keep your sanity at the end of 8 weeks.
  • The fact that Psychiatry is the only specialty where your knowledge of pharmacology need only cover 4 main classes of drugs.
  • Every Monday is FIELD TRIP DAY! Breakfast will always be served!
  • Don't be afraid to approach creepy looking patients. Their stories are always the most interesting. Be sure to clerk where ppl can keep an eye on you though ;)
  • Never assess "judgment" of a schizophrenic patient unless you're prepared to keep a straight face.
  • DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR REAL PHONE NUMBER!
  • Just because your patient talks about a friend, doesn't mean that these are REAL friends. Always clarify. HEHEHE unless you want to be shocked when you see her portrait of said friend.
  • Try not to wear bright colours if you do not want to be diagnosed as manic.
  • It's best not to laugh when a 78 year old woman tells you that she is really 23.
  • ADHD kids are fun to watch and interact with. ZERO fun for the parents though.
  • When in doubt, prescribe RISPERDAL.
